چکیده
Erratum Following publication of the original article [1], it was brought to our attention that there were a few errors in Table 2: CU admission should read: ICU admission 11/233 (1.8%) should read: 11/233 (4.7%) 12/233 (2.0%) should read: 12/233 (5.2%) The corrected table is presented in this erratum [Table 2]. Furthermore, the sentence “...only 14% (83/607) of REBOA patients and 2.0% (12/233) of ACC patients could leave the hospital and go home.” in the Discussion section should as a consequence read: “...only 14% (83/607) of REBOA patients and 5.2% (12/233) of ACC patients could leave the hospital and go home.” This has now been corrected in this erratum.

Resuscitative endovascular balloon occlusion of the aorta versus aortic cross clamping among patients with critical trauma: a nationwide cohort study in Japan
BACKGROUND Measures of aortic occlusion (AO) for resuscitation in patients with severe torso trauma remain controversial. Our aim was to characterize the current use of resuscitative endovascular balloon occlusion of the aorta (REBOA) and resuscitative open aortic cross-clamping (ACC), and to evaluate whether REBOA should be an alternative method to resuscitative open ACC. METHODS This study ...

Resuscitative endovascular balloon occlusion of the aorta (REBOA) is an endovascular technique that allows for temporary occlusion of the aorta in patients with severe, life-threatening, trauma-induced noncompressible hemorrhage arising below the diaphragm. REBOA utilizes a transfemoral balloon catheter inserted in a retrograde fashion into the aorta to provide inflow control and support blood ...
متن کاملImplementation of resuscitative endovascular balloon occlusion of the aorta as an alternative to resuscitative thoracotomy for noncompressible truncal hemorrhage.
BACKGROUND Hemorrhage remains the leading cause of death in trauma patients. Proximal aortic occlusion, usually performed by direct aortic cross-clamping via thoracotomy, can provide temporary hemodynamic stability, permitting definitive injury repair. Resuscitative endovascular balloon occlusion of the aorta (REBOA) uses a minimally invasive, transfemoral balloon catheter, which is rapidly ins...
متن کاملResuscitative endovascular balloon occlusion of the aorta (REBOA) as an adjunct for hemorrhagic shock.
Temporary occlusion of the aorta as an operative method to increase proximal or central perfusion to the heart and brain in the setting of shock is not new.1 Resuscitative aortic occlusion with a balloon was reported as early as the Korean War and has been described in more recent publications.2–5 Despite potential advantages over thoracotomy with aortic clamping, resuscitative endovascular bal...
متن کاملResuscitative Endovascular Balloon Occlusion of the Aorta in trauma: a systematic review of the literature
AIMS Resuscitative endovascular balloon occlusion of the aorta has been a hot topic in trauma resuscitation during these last years. The aims of this systematic review are to analyze when, how, and where this technique is performed and to evaluate preliminary results. METHODS The literature search was performed on online databases in December 2016, without time limits. Studies citing endovasc...
